Hi, my name is Brenda Hughes and I'm a mother of four grown children and grandmother to five precious grandchildren.  I am 56 years old and a widow.

Passion and calling.

Ever since I can remember, I have always had a passion for the poor. I grew up in a very poor neighbourhood and I know what it feels like to go to bed with and empty stomach. I also know the ridicule and mocking of others for being poorly dressed and for not having shoes on your feet.

Poverty was a reality in our home because we were 14 children that needed taking care of!

At that time my father worked as a lorry/truck driver for the S.A. Railways and he received a very small salary.  

I do thank God for my father who gave us everything he could. Although there was a great lack of material needs in our home there was never a lack of my father’s love!
God had called me at a young age to work, serve and minister to the poor, needy and destitute.

I recently completed a Christian Trauma Counsellors Course and I have found that I am counselling people from all walks of life more now than ever! I enjoy marriage counselling because marriage is honourable and instituted by God. 
In March 2013 I was ordained as a pastor. By the grace of God I am presently shepherding a flock in my home; because we are a young church we are praying and trusting God to supply us with a bigger place of worship while He is faithfully adding to His church daily!

This blog was written for the simple reason that the Lord has given me a passion for the poor & destitute and I can identify with them.

It is my prayer that you the reader will feel encouraged to participate by donating towards this God given project in helping the poor.
