For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.'
Mat 25:35-36

Celebrating Christmas in the Store - 2006 |
Kingdom Kidz is a non- profit Christian outreach ministry committed to the complete restoration of
children/youth living on the streets of Vanderbijlpark and surrounding areas in South Africa. Although this may be
small beginnings, we are determined to make a big difference. Our vision is to have a home/shelter where all children are safe, loved and cared for.
We help children in street situations to realise their
rights and to reach their full potential, which is our inspiration. Their voice and outcry for help has led to the writing of this blog on their behalf.
Christmas on the street - 2012

One cannot avoid a hungry child’s eyes looking up at you,
a street child begging at a traffic light or a mother with her children sitting
on a street corner in the heat of the day begging for a few coins.
How and when I befriended the street children in our town
How and when I befriended the street children in our town
While I was
employed as a manageress at an Antique/Used Furniture Store in the year 2004, a street child entered the store and started begging for food
and money; I saw fear, hurt and rejection in his eyes. I reached out to him and
he responded with fear and uncertainty. He was nervous, shaking and I could see that he did not trust me. In the days that followed I befriended the child and learned that his name was Sam and after many days of out reach, I gained his trust.

Winning the trust of these children was no easy
task and it took some time before they slowly responded to my kindness toward them. They realized that I posed no threat and could see that I was genuine in
my efforts to help them.
After hearing their stories I realised that these children were destitute and were also victims of constant sexual,
emotional and physical abuse. There was also the constant reality of ‘bully's’ who were bigger and stronger than they, who would forcefully take all the monies they had collected for the day. Some of these children were sent
to the streets by their parents who would often spend the money on alcohol or different drugs. Most of the children were also victims of some form of
drug and/or substance abuse.

Thanking God for our daily bread. |
Donations for food and clothes were minimal. Many told me that I was wasting my time and there was no hope for them. These children
were truly the outcasts of society and were treated as such. I thank God for
always making a way where there seemed to be no way. I've always managed to feed the children daily on my salary and God sent donations.
Soon my daughter, Sharon and son-in-law, Jaco joined me in my plight to help these children.

CHRISTMAS 2013
We believe that there is no need, no reason, for any child to live, work or beg on the street. We aim to break destructive cycles and bleak futures, to heal and reunify families and to create children with a bright, positive future away from street life.We understand their experiences and know what brought them to the streets, the challenges they face and their aspirations. We need to help by designing programmes that respond to their needs and help them to prepare for their adult lives. We aim to engage, empower, and educate children who are often uncounted and unheard. We are working to give street children a safe place to learn, play, and grow.We support and are dedicated to improving the lives and long term prospects of children.
NB: There are Churches/organizations in our area that have established shelters for other destitute children and youth. (God bless them!)
Yet these shelters are full and there is still a demand to establish more shelters.
The vision of Kingdom Kidz at present is to establish a shelter in the near future. (before winter arrives!)
By standing together we can help in the elimination of poverty by reaching out and taking the hands of the poor in our community and with the help of God we can lift them out of the dust!
Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and the needy. Proverbs 31:9
